Celebrating 50 Years

Contemporary Controls was founded 50 years ago in June of 1975. To commemorate the company's 50th anniversary, current and retired employees, business partners, friends and families celebrated at the Union League Club in Chicago, Illinois.

"The 50th anniversary provided the perfect opportunity to reflect on the company's journey, its successes, and the lessons learned along the way," said George Thomas, President. "It gave me the chance to thank our employees. The company wouldn't have been successful without their dedication, expertise and hard work. Others were recognized as supporting the company during hard times. We had some great food, great laughs and enjoyed the day."

Contemporary Controls began as a systems integration and consulting business focused on microcomputer and PLC applications. By 1985, the company transitioned into hardware manufacturing, developing STD-BUS microcomputer modules used in various automation and communication industries. It soon became a leader in ARCNET technology and later expanded into Industrial Ethernet and fieldbus technologies.

Contemporary Controls moved into building automation in the early-2000s by developing products that supported BACnet/ARC156, BACnet/IP and BACnet MS/TP.
